Born in Indonesia, Viola Lasmana is currently a PhD student in the English department at University of Southern California. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Viola lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she received her MA from San Francisco State University and BA from the University of San Francisco.
Viola works in the intersections of 19th-20th century American literature, Southeast Asian studies (especially Indonesian literature), postcolonial theories, digital humanities, remix culture, and pedagogy. She is also currently a HASTAC Scholar.
